We have several new toys, I mean Pilates equipment at Hi-Life Pilates.
Mat Pilates: Pilates was originally taught as a series of mat-based exercises. Depending upon your customised program, there may be some mat exercises for you.
Reformer Pilates: Pilates on the Reformer is designed to assist and support you but give you resistance via a spring and pulley system. The exercises usually work muscles through a large range of motion which is ideal for building and toning muscles as well increasing stability through the joints. Reformer Pilates works more areas than matwork as matwork is mostly core whereas reformer works the entire body and more the peripheral muscles of the arms and legs.
Pilates Cadillac: The Pilates Cadillac is a piece of equipment that most closely represents that of a bed with a frame. The Cadillac (or Trapeze) is a specialized piece of Pilates equipment that enables you to tone almost every muscle group in your body. It involves working various muscle groups with challenging poses and light resistance. The Cadillac is possibly the most versatile piece of Pilates equipment in the sheer range of exercises you are able to perform (from gentle spring-assisted abdominal curls to advanced acrobatics) and the wide variety of positions to put you in. There are so many unique elements to the Cadillac. It has leg springs, arm springs, fuzzy straps to hang from, a push through bar, and even a trapeze bar!
Wunda Chair: The Wunda Chair is a challenge because, in all of the repertoire, there is only a small part of the body that is connected to the Chair, which challenges your body awareness and balance. The limited spring settings mean you can get an efficient, full-body workout in a short time without a lot of stopping for complicated equipment changes.
Spine Corrector: The Spine Corrector is an essential Pilates tool that can be used to perform exercises that lengthen and strengthen the torso, shoulders, back and legs while correcting or restoring the spine’s natural curvature. The spine corrector’s curved surface creates a whole new challenge as you work with (or against) gravity on an incline or a decline, as opposed to the mat’s flat surface. Therefore, you can target range of motion in the hips, shoulders and spine from a new perspective.
Ladder Barrel: The Pilates Ladder Barrel is unique. It offer both active and passive back extension exercises. It challenges core stability and strength and is for for serious core conditioning and will allow you to increase flexibility and mobility. This is excellent for developing back strength and promoting trunk extension which is crucial to developing good posture. It utilizes gravity rather than springs for resistance.
